11.5 feedback Questions
Brief feedback Questions
- How appropriate is the script in relation to the brief?
This script 'Darklands' involves most of the brief that is written in the treatment about the first episode. There are a few changes like the names for example. This is due to the names being American and our crime drama is set in England with English characters.
- What strengths and weaknesses have been identified in the drafting and feedback process?
The strengths were that we had strong character development. The weaknesses in the drafting was the pace at which the story was told as it went from one small point to the main plot in only a few sentences which wasn't a good layout/storyline. So we will have to rewrite it to make the story a much more slower pace. There is a character called Tom who will need to be developed and the location also. There is a scene on page 2 that needs to be cut out as it doesn't make much sense when reading. We will have to change that scene to a car scene with the two main characters talking. There is also parts where the description is over done.
- How will the script appeal to the target audience?
The script will appeal to the target audience by having traits wrote into it that they should like. For example the crime drama fans will love the crime side and mystery loving fans will love that side. This will have a mix and it will hopefully draw in new audiences. There will be traits that most people will like or enjoy, like the female lead, a little horror, super natural, mystery and more. The age category would be from 18+.
- What are the main changes you have made through the drafting process? (dialogue, action, narrative, camera directions)
The main changes that we have made through this drafting process is the dialogue as it started off very simple and short so we expanded it to have the characters actually conversing with one another. We changed the characters in a way where the female officer is playing the lead role to mix up the stereotype of the men being the lead officers in most crime series. Another change would be the camera directions which we added to the script and didn't have before. The action seemed to stay roughly the same with only small little fill ins being added to make the story make more sense then what it did in the treatment.
